Salman Khan leads the 2014 Forbes India Celebrity 100 chart, both in terms of revenue and fame—a first for a Forbes India celebrity list topper.
The bad boy of Bollywood, though dodged by controversies and court cases, has maintained his fame and stardom with his box office hits, TV appearances and his charitable trust Being Human.
Shahrukh Khan, who led the chart for three years, is ranked third this year for not having a film release in the period considered for this list (October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2014). His firm hold in top of the list is attributed to his endorsements that have earned him approximately Rs 202 crores
Bollywood’s evergreen star Amitabh Bachhan has moved up three places this year, owed to his nearly 12mn Twitter following—the largest for anybody on that platform in India.
Like last year, the top 10 in the list includes only one woman—this time, Deepika Padukone who replaced Katrina Kaif.
The list takes into consideration the net worth, earnings estimates and fame. Their gross pre-tax earnings are combined with their fame scores to arrive at the Forbes India Celebrity 100 List.
